For the third year of my aerospace engineering degree, during first term, I took part in an Airbus sponsored group project in which we were tasked with designing a "paper" concept aircraft.
I did all of the CAD designs and drafting using the dimensions that the team and I produced from our calculations.
Here's a timelapse of my process modelling an A321neo-inspired aircraft from the ground up in Fusion 360 and later SOLIDWORKS. This project spanned about 33 days of group work during the third year of my undergraduate aerospace degree and took roughly 30 hours to complete. Although modelling our design in 3D wasn’t a requirement for the coursework, I decided to go for it because I’ve always wanted to apply my skills to aircraft design. The experience was incredibly valuable, combining teamwork and hands-on design, and I had a great time doing it. I look forward to creating more aircraft and drones in the future when time allows.
